How often should you bathe your dog?

Over-bathing can dry out a dog's skin; under-bathing leaves them grubby. Here's how to find the right rhythm for your dog's coat.

"How often should I bathe my dog?" is one of the most common questions we hear — and the honest answer is: it depends. Here's how to judge it.

It depends on coat and lifestyle

A short-coated indoor dog may need a bath only every couple of months, while an active dog who loves mud will need more. Most dogs do well somewhere between every four and eight weeks.

Why more isn't better

Bathing too often strips the natural oils that keep skin healthy, leading to dryness and itching. Gentle, appropriate products matter as much as frequency.

Brushing does half the work

Regular brushing removes loose hair and dirt between baths, keeps the coat healthy and reduces shedding far more effectively than frequent washing — or shaving.

Our bath & grooming uses warm water, gentle products and a thorough brush-out. Ask us what's right for your dog's coat.
