A truly dog-free space matters
The single biggest factor for a cat's stress levels is not hearing or smelling dogs. A proper cattery, kept entirely separate from the dog areas, removes that constant low-level alarm.
Bring their world with them
- A blanket or bed that smells like home
- Their usual food (keep it consistent)
- Any medication, with clear instructions
- A favourite toy, if they have one
Let them set the pace
Quiet handling, hiding spots and familiar routines let a shy cat come out of their shell on their own terms. Forcing interaction does the opposite.
